Where Have All the Flowers Gone?
39 x 31 x 1 in.
Materials: Cyanotype chemicals on white cotton, silk organza, DMC cotton floss thread, Dual Duty thread, poly-cotton binding, cotton-poly batting, cotton backing.
Techniques: Cyanotype sun-printed photograms of ribbons, flowers, and ferns, machine piecing, machine quilting, heat shaping of organza edges, hand embroidery in organza flowers, binding stitched by hand to backing.
Statement: Pete Seeger’s iconic anti-war ballad sadly applies today as powerfully as it did in the 1960s. Will our world always suffer from war and its horrid aftermaths? Where are the voices of reason? “The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind” (Bob Dylan’s haunting anti-war ballad from 1962).
