Materials: Cyanotype chemicals on vintage machine-pieced cotton quilt top, acrylic paint, thread, cotton backing, polyester batting

Techniques: Cyanotype photograms of hand stitching in sashiko style, stitches removed after sun printing to reveal white patterns, hand embroidery, stamp printing, hand quilted in cross-stitch

Going Spiral challenges assumptions about what we are seeing.  In this heavily stitched surface, what appears to be white stitching actually is white resist, where the stitches were removed after the cyanotype printing. The stamp printing of gold spirals in varying densities is a nod to failing vision as we age.  My Past Present series repurposes traditional vintage quilt tops, creating contemporary statements.
